The partners of the STDF are the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), the World Bank, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Trade Organization (WTO). The WTO administers the Trust Fund and provides the Secretariat for the Facility. Partners are responsible for:
Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the lead agency for agriculture, forestry, fisheries and rural development, was founded in 1945 and is currently comprised of 190 member countries plus one member organization, the European Community. Its mandate is to raise levels of nutrition, improve agricultural productivity, better the lives of rural populations and contribute to the growth of the world economy. FAO activities comprise four main areas. It puts information at reach and serves as a knowledge network. It lends its years of experience to member countries in devising agricultural policy, supporting planning, drafting effective legislation and creating national strategies to achieve rural development and hunger alleviation goals. It provides a meeting place for nations to forge agreements on major food and agriculture issues, and it brings its knowledge to the field. FAO mobilizes and manages millions of dollars provided by industrialized countries, development banks and other sources to make sure that thousands of field projects achieve their goals. FAO provides the technical know-how and in a few cases is a limited source of funds. Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations

The World Organization for Animal Health (Office International des Epizooties or OIE) is an intergovernmental organization created by the International Agreement of 25 January 1924, signed by 28 countries, and at present with 168 member countries. Each member country undertakes to report to the OIE the animal diseases that it detects on its territory. The OIE then disseminates the information to other countries, which can take the necessary preventive action. This information also includes diseases transmissible to humans and intentional introduction of pathogens. Information is sent out immediately or periodically depending on the seriousness of the disease. This objective applies to disease occurrences both naturally occurring and deliberately caused. Using its network of internationally recognized scientists, the OIE also collects and analyzes the latest scientific information on animal disease control. The OIE provides technical support to member countries requesting assistance with animal disease control and eradication operations, particularly developing countries. It develops normative documents relating to rules that member countries can use to protect themselves from the introduction of diseases and pathogens, without setting up unjustified sanitary barriers. Finally, the OIE assists in improving the legal framework and resources of national Veterinary Services. World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) World Bank Group (WB) The World Bank is a vital source of financial and technical assistance to developing countries around the world. It is made up of two unique development institutions owned by 185 member countries - the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) and the International Development Association (IDA). Each organization plays a different but supportive role in the World bank's mission of global poverty reduction and the improvement of living standards. The IBRD focuses on middle income and creditworthy poor countries, while the IDA focuses on the poorest countries in the world. Together they provide low-interest loans, interest-free credit, and grants to developing countries. The World Bank World Health Organization (WHO) The World Health Organization, the United Nations specialized agency for health, was established in 1948 and is currently governed by 193 member States who serve on the World Health Assembly. WHO's objective, as set out in its Constitution, is the attainment by all peoples of the highest possible level of health - defined in WHO's Constitution as a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. To advance health at the global and country level, the WHO is committed to reduce excess mortality, morbidity and disability; promote healthy lifestyles and reduce risk factors to human that arise from environmental, economic, social and behavioural causes; develop health systems that equitably improve health outcomes, respond to people’s legitimate demands, and are financially fair; and create an institutional environment for the health sector by promoting an effective health dimension to social, economic, environmental and development policy. World Health Organization (WHO) World Trade Organization (WTO) The World Trade Organization (WTO), established in 1995 and currently comprised of 150 members, is the only global international organization dealing with the rules of trade between nations. At its heart are the WTO agreements, negotiated and signed by the bulk of the world’s trading nations and ratified in their parliaments, which provide the legal ground-rules for international commerce, guaranteeing member countries important trade rights. The main functions include providing a forum for trade negotiations, handling trade disputes, monitoring national trade policies, technical assistance and training for developing countries, and cooperation with other international organizations. The goal of the WTO is to help producers of goods and services, exporters, and importers conduct their business so that consumers and producers know that foreign markets will remain open to them while they enjoy secure supplies and greater choice of the finished products, components, raw materials and services that they use. By lowering trade barriers, the WTO’s system also breaks down other barriers between peoples and nations. The WTO administers the STDF Trust Fund and provides the Secretariat for the Facility.
